The Mazda Bongo or Ford Friendee make an ideal campervan with their high specifications, compact size and cost
The standard specification is higher than on many vehicles of the same age and cost. Most models come with an electric lifting roof (Auto High Top) and electric blinds as well as front and rear air conditioning, power steering, electric mirrors and electric windows.
The elevating roof opens automatically at the press of a button to create an additional bedroom for two. The roof bed is easily pushed upwards allowing maximum headroom.
Once converted, our Mazda Bongo's become 4 berth with 4 factory fitted crash tested traveling seats. This allows you to make the most of your bongo for all of your everyday tasks as well as camping trips, days out etc...
First launched in 1995, nearly all Bongo's have automatic transmissions and they come in 2WD or full time 4WD versions.
The Bongo engines are most commonly 2.5 turbo diesels but are also available with 2.5 V6 petrol engines.
Models built from 1999 onwards have a revised bodystyle and have different engines, although the 2.5 turbodiesel is still the most common.
